U.S. Penalties 

CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act)

Violating the CCPA can bring penalties of up to $7,500. In case of willful violation, $2,500 is charged for every violation, while for advertent violation, 30 days are offered for a cure. A user can demand $100 for statutory damage and not over $750 per consumer in every occurrence or actual damages, whichever is greater, caused due to security breaches. 

VCDPA (Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act)

In case of repeated violations of the VCDPA forms after 30 days of the cure period, or if the processor fails to comply with the Attorney General's written statement, s/he will announce an injunction to prevent VCDPA violations and can stipulate a civil penalty close to $7,500.

CPA (Colorado Privacy Act)

The Colorado Consumer Protection Act suggests that in trades, any deceptive practice is a violation. Even though there's no fixed penalty amount under CPA, the Colorado Consumer Protection Act does and imposes a $20,000 penalty per violation.


UCPA (Utah Consumer Privacy Act)

Under UCPA, the enforcement responsibilities are on the Attorney General, and the entities should be informed of the violations in writing and be given 30 days for rectification. In case of uncured offenses, a lawsuit can be filed, and a fine of $7,500 is imposed for every violation.
